A native of Saint John, New Brunswick, Brent graduated from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1987 with a MBA in finance and economics.

He articled with Grant Thornton initially and earned his Chartered Accountant (CA) designation in 1992. In the same year, he set up his own company and began providing accounting and financial advice to clients throughout New Brunswick.

Brent joined the Life Insurance and Investment industry in 1998 earning his Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation in 1999 and his Chartered Life Underwriting (CLU) designation in 2004.

He is a life member of Million Dollar Round Table. He has achieved Top of the Table status under the Million Dollar Round Table, which recognizes the top 1% of advisors in the industry worldwide.

He is also a member of the Conference of Advanced Life Underwriting (CALU) in Canada.
